The issues of job loss, financial distress, social stigma haunt COVID-19 patients in Assam came to light during a telepsychology volunteering programme — ‘Monon’, which means mental well-being — conducted by a team of doctors and counsellors of the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) led by the medical establishment’s Associate Professor of Clinical Psychology and the President of the Society for Mental Health in LAMIC (SoMHiL) , Dr Mythili Hazarika.
