Workshop in 181 women helpline

2018.12.05-bd

The Secretary of the Society for Mental Health in LAMIC (SoMHiL), Bornali Das conducted a workshop on “Psychosocial management of women affected in violence” in 181 women helpline centre. Underscoring the importance of joint initiative by government and public to tackle crimes against women, 181 Sakhi toll-free women helpline was established in May 2018 in Assam, to intensify women’s security and upholding their dignity. The helpline assists women in terms of social welfare schemes, shelter, counseling, medical examination, filling FIR, legal aid, recording of audio and visual depositions, and emergency response and rescue. The training in psychosocial management for counsellors and supervisors had immensely helped them as they had a better understanding of how to integrate along with legal and social guidance.
