Keynote speaker
Mythili Hazarika, the President of the Society for Mental Health in LAMIC (SoMHiL) was the keynote speaker at the premier Assam Engineering College in the Faculty Development programme organised by the Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering in association with Multi-skilling and Sustainability Centre. She spoke on “From the womb and beyond: the bio-psycho-social perspectives in mental health”.
Inaugural function
The President of the Society for Mental Health in LAMIC (SoMHiL), Mythili Hazarika was with the Principal of Assam Engineering College, Dr Atul Bora and HOD Dr Dinesh Pegu of Electronics and Telecommunication during the inaugural function, and delivered the inaugural speech at Assam Engineering College in the Faculty Development Programme organised by the Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering in association with Multi-skilling and Sustainability Centre.
Alcoholic Anonymous
Bornali Das, the Secretary of the Society for Mental Health in LAMIC (SoMHiL) was invited as Chief Guest to a Seminar by Alcoholic Anonymous (AA), “Impact of alcohol use disorders in families of addiction” in Guwahati. AA is an international mutual aid fellowship with the stated purpose of enabling its members to “stay sober and help other alcoholics achieve sobriety”. AA is nonprofessional, self-supporting, and apolitical.
Out of the closet
The symposium, “Out of the closet: challenges of the LGBT in clinics and community”, conceptualised by Mythili Hazarika, the President of the Society for Mental Health in LAMIC (SoMHiL), is presented by Nilofar Rahman, Rajvardhan Narayan, and Shyamanta Das, the Editor-in-Chief of the Open Journal of Psychiatry & Allied Sciences (OJPAS®) in the 72nd Annual National Conference of Indian Psychiatric Society (ANCIPS 2020) at Kolkata.
