The abstract of the article, titled “Father and son attachment styles in alcoholic and non-alcoholic families” by Mythili Hazarika and Dipesh Bhagabati is now available in the PubMed. The article published in the Open Journal of Psychiatry & Allied Sciences (OJPAS®) (January-June 2018, Volume 9 Issue 1) becomes the second such article from OJPAS® to be included in the PubMed (PMID: 30899788). The full text of the article is available in the PubMed Central (PMC) (PMCID: PMC6424342).

The Editor-in-Chief of the Open Journal of Psychiatry & Allied Sciences (OJPAS®), Shyamanta Das co-chaired with Dr. Chiranjeeb Kakoty, Director, NE SPYM the session, “Substance use in children and response of NGOs” sharing of good practices of NE State in One Day Reginal Level Consultation on Drugs & Substance Use among Children in NE States organised by National Commission for Protection of Child Rights in Collaboration with Assam State Commission for Protection of Child Rights and Foundation for Integrated Support and Solution at Assam Administrative Staff College, Khanapara, Guwahati.

Bornali Das, the Secretary of the Society for Mental Health in LAMIC (SoMHiL) delivered a talk on “Importance of Human Relationship in the context of Mental Health and the Role of a Professional Social Worker” on the occasion of the World Social Work Day, celebrated by the Dept. of Social Work, RSHSS, Royal Global University (RGU), Guwahati.

Abhigyan Xibir

Mythili Hazarika, the President of the Society for Mental Health in LAMIC (SoMHiL) was invited as a guest speaker in “Abhigyan Xibir” at Jatiya Vidyalaya, Guwahati to enlighten the board examinees on psychosocial issues and life course perspectives to face the real world out of their comfort zone. They were quite enthusiastic and the interactive session was a learning experience as the concerns that they had raised about discipline issues, relationship conflicts, career choice, controlling emotions, and dealing with superstitions were quite challenging.

The abstract of the original article, titled “An exploratory study from eastern India on neurological soft signs and spontaneous movement disorders in schizophrenia spectrum disorders” by Shyamanta Das, Samrat Singh Bhandari, Simanta Talukdar, Arunima Dutta, Nabanita Barman, and Dipesh Bhagabati, and published in the current issue (January-June 2019, Volume 10 Issue 1) of the Open Journal of Psychiatry & Allied Sciences (OJPAS®) is in PubMed (PMID: 30868105). This is the first OJPAS® article to be in PubMed. It is now in both PubMed and PubMed Central (PMCID: PMC6411054).

In the fortnightly Mind Matters column, titled “Sex and depression” of Horizon, the Friday supplement with The Assam Tribune, the Editor-in-Chief of the Open Journal of Psychiatry & Allied Sciences (OJPAS®), Shyamanta Das wrote about the original article, “A study of sexual dysfunction in patients with major depressive disorder” by Riddhish K Maru, Bindoo S Jadhav, Bharat R Shah, and Hemangee S Dhavale, and published in the current issue (January-June 2019, Volume 10 Issue 1) of OJPAS®.
