Beyond the burn
The President of the Society for Mental Health in LAMIC (SoMHiL), Dr. Mythili Hazarika was the Guest Speaker on “Beyond the burn: psychosocial aspects of burn survivors” in the 5th CME and awareness programme by the Department of Plastic Surgery, Reconstructive Surgery, and Burn Unit of the Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH). Her talk focused on the various psychological issues in different stages of admission, critical care, in hospital recuperation, reintegration, and rehabilitation process. The programme was very well organised with special invitees from the media and various walks of life to create awareness about the prevention and intervention models of burn injury with live demonstration and skits as well as various entertainment programmes by the burn survivors. The burn survivors were felicitated by the distinguished personalities as well.
